Chao Zhou clay teapots are made of local red clay, artistically hand thrown for functionality and aesthetic. The history of clay teapot making began in the 1600s, although Chao Zhou region has a much longer history of pottery making since Tang Dynasty which is more than 800 years. The red clay serves the function of enhancing the flavor of tea, smooths texture, lessen astringency and bitterness. The effect is no less if not more than Yi Xing clay teapots. CZ teapots are made in small sizes which is ideal for kungfu tea. As in a Ming dynasty - 400 years old, tea book recommended small teapots make better and more flavorful tea.
