Spring first pick from 500+ years old trees in He Kai Man Long region. It started soft and aromatic, buttery, floral nectary sweet! Similar to a bingdao Lao zhai, the floral taste gets stronger and stronger with each sip, like hyperlapsing a blooming flower in the mouth. There is a lot to chew on the texture, strong recharging energy without taking over your mind. For the price, is a nice catch with so much goodness, even undervalued in my opinion.
He Kai village is 15 km north of Lao Ban Zhang both located in Meng Hai county, with tea growing history for over 1500 years, the oldest tea tree alive today is around 1400 years old. Puerh teas from He Kai has a similar energy to Lao Ban Zhang due to close climate and terroir but without the big price. We love this tea and value.
Recommended water for this tea: very good quality filtered water, ie reverse osmosis filtered water. Spring water suppresses the fragrance quite a bit. Tap water is prohibited!
